He served as a minor antagonist in Season 1, the secondary antagonist of the first half of Season 3, and an anti-hero protagonist of the second half of Season 3. He also made a cameo appearance in Season 2, as a hallucination to his younger brother Daryl Dixon . WebMerle and Daryl are products of an abusive home. Merle eventually gets over his past and becomes a good guy. Daryl eventually gets over his past and becomes a good guy. Most of the early seasons of TWD were about people getting over their past becoming either good or bad guys though.
